Game Reports

To be considered “eligible” for Post-Season, all Tier 1 officials are required to fill out FIVE Game Reports prior to January 31st.  Below is an example of what the Report Form looks like.

RATIONALE:  As part of your development as a basketball official, it will be beneficial for you to participate in pre-game, halftime, and post-game discussions with veteran officiating crews during varsity contests to glean from their conversations, insight, and experience.  This will require you to stay, watch, and absorb varsity contests including pre-game, halftime, and post-game locker room discussions where plays, situations, rules, etc. will be discussed.

Pre-Game Conference Checklist

Introduce yourself to the Referee of the crew prior to the game starting in which you will be filling out a report. Communicate with the Referee that you will be completing a game report, and that you would appreciate the opportunity to attend the pre-game, halftime, and post-game locker room discussions.

Before & During the Game Checklist

Be observant on what each official is doing prior to tipoff. Take notes on game situations and questions you may have for the crew regarding play calling, positioning, rules, communication with coaches, etc.  Be prepared to discuss your notes & questions with the crew at an appropriate time during the post-game discussion.

Halftime Conference Checklist

Attend the locker room with the crew to absorb their conversation and assessment of the first half.  Please note, halftime is not an appropriate time to ask questions and discuss your observations.  Unless asked, save your questions and comments for the post-game discussion.

Post-Game Conference Checklist

Attend the locker room with the crew to absorb their conversation and assessment of the second half. After the crew has had time to debrief about the game, is the appropriate time to ask questions to the crew.  Please know, you are not evaluating the crew, you are there as a guest, and your questions and comments

should reflect that, and be respectful.
