The official must be in good standing with his/her association, which is
defined as follows from the UHSBOA Bylaws (Article One, Section Three)
and the Integrity Program:
He/she must be registered with the UHSAA by the first scheduled
Chapter meeting
He/she must be current in all consecutive yearly chapter dues in
the amount of and by the date prescribed by the UHSBOA Board of
Trustees (Section Two (A) of Article Three of the Integrity Program)
The official must attend a minimum of four of the five regularly
scheduled chapter meetings throughout the season (Section Two
(C) of Article Three of the Integrity Program)
Comply with the Officials’ Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and
Policies and Procedures (Articles Two, Three and Four of the
Integrity Program)
The official must take and pass the Basketball Rules Tests.
The official must complete and turn in a minimum of 10 evaluations of sub-varsity officials. These evaluations should be completed prior to the
deadline for the post-season list being turned in to the UHSAA. At least
eight evaluations must be done in person.
The official must attend at least one training camp every three years. The camp must be sanctioned by the UHSBOA and/or the UHSAA. Sanctioned camps include the UHSBOA, SUBOA, and SWAC camps. Camp attendance shall be for multiple days and include participation in
classroom instruction and working games in front of evaluators. *
The official must attend or view the pre-season training meeting, which
replaces the traditional rules clinic, and watch the training videos.
Consistency throughout the state in maintaining the same criteria is critical. It is important that each chapter keep complete and up-to-date records for these requirements to be fair and accurate in determining if an official is eligible for post-season consideration. This especially applies to meeting attendance, evaluations, and camp attendance.
